I first met Jessy, not too surprisingly in a Calgary ringette arena – it was part of both of our upbringings, almost part of a peculiar religion. She was a teeny petite goalie (that was actually a ringette age category!), and I was there to try to bring some guidance to her about the techniques that can be used to stop the blue rubber, by me, another tiny but older version. Even then she had a kindness to her, a maturity that left an impression and stuck with our family. It was this impression that Jessy left that brought my mom to a few tears on the wedding day, as well as the rest of us.

The reception and ceremony were held at  Calgary’s Pinebrook Golf and Country Club and although the sun still hadn’t made an appearance Jessy trooped her way to get the most out of the photo time. This golf course is amazing as every photo location is a short jaunt away. It couldn’t have been any better.

After much debate over the weather that week, the ceremony took place inside, with the special touch of Jessy’s Uncle Gerald marrying these two. And, calling on more family, some very hard working aunts and others transformed the venue into a really magical place. The venue managed to fit the many excited guests, who later chowed down on the mouth watering candy buffet – I see you Ferrero Rocher.

The reception was what one would expect from two amazing families like these two – tears, laughter, dancing, and good good times, all supported by Jessy’s friend Laurie Callao on music, and by some pretty incredible interpretive dancers on the floor.

Love these families, love these two. Completely honoured to be part of their day.
