This couple knows how to do things full and right and it was evident at their wedding. They seem to be able to do the big things as well as tie the little details in there as well, the stuff that really matters to people and gets them crying, in the good cry kind of way. With all the official wedding paperwork completed on Thursday (along with helicopters and fondue), this day was meant for just sitting back and celebrating.

What made this day so special were many things:

  • How fun this couple is
  • The attention to the little things
  • The connections between everyone there
  • The partying skills of guests
  • The addition of the location being the spot of so many of Jamie’s favourite childhood memories. This is something that Jason has embraced and taken on, even proposing here at Panorama with fireworks, again, the big things with the little things.

With Jamie’s love of having people around her mixed with her fear of missing out, the day began just like that. It felt like a regular old ringette tournament, all the girls gathered in the kitchen with Dixie making sure everyone was all fed for the activities for the rest of the day – only this time the eggs were served with mimosas on the side.

There was thought put into every detail of the day, from notes, to jumpers for the wedding crew, to photos of bridesmaids on the bouquets. This wedding was a year in the making and it was evident looking around.

It was so important to both of them to make sure everyone knew how important and appreciated it was that everyone was there. There weren’t a lot of dry eyes when notes were read and presents looked through.

With a bit of booze, boxers and a very organized grooms room over at the mens side, things were rolling along for them as well. They were ready a tad earlier than the girls side and so we had them head over for some photo ops. The sun was even out strong enough that being outside actually felt nice – I am hoping Calgary can learn a lesson about this sometime soon…

This first look was like no other we had done before, with family and the bridal party gathered around in the back to watch it all unfold. The couple made sure everyone was part of everything and it couldn’t have taken place at a more beautiful location.

Because the official ceremony had already taken place, the couple allowed groomsmen Greg to put on the show. There was a signing of the contract with a massive sharpie (of which I am still not sure what it said…), selfies by the wedding party, and even an icing to the ring bearer (icing being having to down a Smirnoff Ice on the spot, the Ring Bearer being ‘just’ of legal age…). The vows were just as heartfelt and funny as Thursday for the rest of the guests to be able to witness.

In between there was a stop at the T-Bar, some old stomping grounds for this crew.

The reception began with another Icing – this time to the Bride and Groom and I think everyone knew where the party was heading and that it would be there to stay for most of the night, as I mentioned before, this group knew how to party. Guests were able to choose from the ski cafeteria which was amazing and ski scene perfect, followed by Dixies famous dessert. There was an epic mother – son dance followed by dancing with everyone else into the early morning.

Through all the great moments that day though one of my favourites was taking Jamie and Jason out to do some night photographs. They were having the best time together, giggling and keeping the dancing moving outside as they looked in on their guests.

There may have been a few glitches in the day with times, and the lift to the ceremony that couldn’t decide whether it wanted to be broken or not, but as Jamie put so perfectly around 1 that morning, it was those things that made the day really great – well, that and the people, party, and celebration.
